it's rorschach from alan moore's watchmen.
the whole thing started as a doodle with a mech pencil on cheap copier paper, was then taken to photoshop to give it a quick and dirty color job. i wanted to achieve a very muted, low-saturation look to the colors. if i find time, there will be a rework with a bit more texture and a slightly more coherent palette.

so, what is going on in his head? my guess is that he's thinking of truman or pondering in some other nostalgia.

full view highly recommended, as the preview is only a small cut-out.

wow. this is beautiful-simplistic yet not. The cutout does it NO justice. I was like, is he smoking? at first. this is beautiful.

yeah, that tangent of the lit part of the smoke and his face is really bothering me everytime i see it - it really looks like hes smoking, or exhaling warm air in the cold, or something.
